Our Santa Barbara lodging is more than just a place to sleep at night. After a leisurely meal, relax and enjoy the Santa Barbara Riviera-style weather, the flowers, and the hummingbirds. When you've finished your last cup of coffee, find a cozy reading spot, walk to town, or ride the trolley to the beach.
The parlor is the first area to explore when you enter our Santa Barbara bed and breakfast. Pictured above in the black and white photo is the parlor as it looked when the Inn opened in June 1981. A number of changes since then, but always the same warm welcome and peaceful ambience. The morning newspaper and our local weekly magazine the Santa Barbara Independent sit on the pie crust table now, while books and magazines on things to see and do in Santa Barbara are within elbow reach.
Our book library is located on the third floor parlor, a quiet hideaway at the top of the stairs, with wonderful mountain views.
There is nothing so indulgent as a front porch - the unspoken invitation to relax and watch the world go by. The Bath Street Inn is in a quiet residential neighborhood with predominantly Victorian and Craftsman style architecture.
The garden at the Bath Street Inn changes with the seasons, always something new to discover. Whether solo for some moments of quiet contemplation or visiting with friends for a chat, our porch is a perfect introduction to the ease of the Santa Barbara indoor/outdoor lifestyle.
Our dining room table is filled with goodies from 4 pm for our complimentary afternoon tea until we start preparations for our full hot gourmet breakfast at 7 am. (See our breakfast page!) Almost everyday, we will be baking cakes and cookies, and if your timing is right, you'll get a cookie hot off the sheet.
Guests often gather to share experiences of their day at teatime or later, in the early evening over a complimentary glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres. Chat with other guests or the innkeepers about Santa Barbara - the fine restaurants, local theater, musical events, and sports activities. The innkeepers are always happy to share their knowledge of the city and to assist you with reservations. The service you will experience at Bath Street Inn will show you why staying at our inn is an ideal alternative to staying in a Santa Barbara, CA hotel.
The patio is nestled between the Victorian home and the Summer House, unseen from the street; quiet and perfect for an outdoor breakfast, a read with a good book, or a glass of wine with someone special. It is shaded by our lovely wisteria vine, woven with fairy lights that make for a magical evening.
