Construction of the new bicycle paths has been completed at Mission Street and the freeway. The landscaping is now in place and looks very attractive as does the improved signage for Highway 101 on ramps.
The $53million dollar Highway 101 project is funded by multiple entities to widen Highway 101 and build other significant roadway improvements between Milpas Street and Hot Springs Road. Most of the work will be done during normal working hours, Monday through Friday behind concrete barricades.
Constructions crews will close Hot Springs Road northbound through the month of July. For our guests this mostly affects entrance to the Montecito Country Club. See detour details on www.sbroads.com . Maps detailing the various stages of the 4 year project are also to be found there.
On and off ramps may be closed for all or part of a day and some partial road closures will also be in affect. Usually two lanes in each direction will remain open during the day, some single lane closures for night work.
A word to the wise: traffic fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones and we have been told that the most frequent time of ticketing is in the night when visibility is limited and crews are exposed to more danger from motorists.
